A Sophisticated Tea Party Table for Two

Celebrating the Love between a Mother and Daughter with these Valentine’s Day Decoration Ideas

Valentine’s Day may traditionally be celebrated between couples, however, there is no reason that the holiday of love can’t include that of the special bond shared between parents and their children. Taking a spin on the classic Valentine’s theme, our next ‘Table for Two’ features elements that create the perfect atmosphere for an elegant tea time spent together.

With a Traditional Tea Set of Homer Laughlin Georgian

Starting with the Homer Laughlin eggshell chinaware that displays an intricate ‘Georgian’ floral design, this table has been set to include all of the components necessary for a tasteful tea party. From the delicate pink of the cotton and rayon tablecloth to the matching napkins, this ‘Table for Two’ feels high-class — and fun. Atop these perfectly folded napkins are silverware made from Superior Stainless USA.

Adding elements of green to this springtime theme, we have placed a set of green depression glassware—a nickname coined in the ‘30s amid the Great Depression, although this type of glass being used for dishware dates all the way back to the Ancient Romans. The green pitcher, which one could fill with ice-cold water or perhaps a refreshing pink lemonade, is made from Vaseline Glass, also known as Uranium Glass.

The final piece of glassware on this table is none-other than a pristine pink crystal service bell that has been positioned between both place settings. Imagine using this bell to call on dad for more finger sandwiches or cakes to be shared amid the laughter of a Mother and her Daughter.

Add to the Festive Fun with Vintage Accessories, like a Pink Bridesmaid’s Hat!

No tea party is complete without a little dressing up, and at the head of our table, we have included just that! Don this vintage pink bridesmaid’s hat. Lower the birdcage veil for an added level of sophistication as you drop a sugar cube or two into a cup of piping hot tea.

Another important aspect of a good tea party is that of the sweet snacks which are typically small like these tasty cupcakes and handmade cookies. Spend time together baking these delectable treats and place them on this ‘Tidbit Tray’ that conveniently folds up at the sides for easy storage.

To finish decorating our table, the last piece we have placed is a limited edition ‘My First Dance’ figurine which was designed by Maud Humphrey—an artist that marketed herself as the mother of academy award winner and prominent film/stage actor Humphrey Bogart. What better way to commemorate a mother daughter Valentine’s luncheon than with a piece of work from a proud mother!
